DIY Manicure: Achieve Salon-Worthy Nails at Home

We know sometimes life happens and you can’t get to our salon by your next appointment date. With the right tools and techniques, you can create a stunning manicure right in the comfort of your own home. Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieving salon-worthy results.

Gather Your Supplies

Before you begin, make sure you have everything you need:

  • Nail polish remover
  • Cotton pads
  • Nail clippers
  • Nail file
  • Cuticle pusher
  • Cuticle nipper (optional)
  • Nail buffer
  • Base coat
  • Nail polish
  • Top coat
  • Cuticle oil
  • Hand cream
  • Bowl for soaking (optional)

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Remove Old Polish: Start by removing any old nail polish using nail polish remover and cotton pads.
  2. Shape Your Nails: Clip your nails to your desired length and use a nail file to shape them into your preferred shape (square, oval, almond, etc.).
  3. Soak Your Nails: (Optional) Fill a bowl with warm water and soak your hands for a few minutes to soften the cuticles.
  4. Push Back Cuticles: Gently push back your cuticles using a cuticle pusher. Avoid cutting cuticles as they protect your nails from infections.
  5. Buff Your Nails: Lightly buff the surface of your nails to remove ridges and create a smooth base for the polish.
  6. Apply Base Coat: Apply a thin coat of base coat to protect your nails and help the polish adhere better.
  7. Apply Nail Polish: Apply two thin coats of your chosen nail polish, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
  8. Apply Top Coat: Seal the manicure with a top coat for a glossy finish and longer wear.
  9. Cuticle Oil and Hand Cream: Massage cuticle oil (your BaseCoat cuticle oil ????????)into your cuticles to keep them hydrated. Finish with a hand cream to moisturize your hands.

Tips for a Perfect Manicure

  • Cleanliness: Clean your nails before starting to prevent smudges and bacteria.
  • Thin Coats: Apply thin coats of polish to avoid bubbles and unevenness.
  • Dry Thoroughly: Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
  • Quick Dry Drops: Use a quick-dry drop to speed up the drying process.
  • Practice Patience: Take your time and enjoy the process.

With a little practice, you’ll be able to create salon-quality manicures at home. However, you can always reach out to us and book a home service appointment and we’ll recreate the BaseCoat experience right in the comfort of your home.
